Porcelain Veneers and Lumineers in Harker Heights
A lifetime of daily wear and tear may add up to a less than perfect smile, and while many patients believe they’ll need extensive restorative care to repair the damage, at Market Heights Family Dental, we may have a more conservative alternative – porcelain veneers and Lumineers.
Custom porcelain veneers are thin sheaths of dental grade porcelain adhered to the front facing parts of teeth to conceal any number of dental irregularities instantly. The process typically occurs over the course to two visits. During the initial appointment, we prepare patients’ teeth by removing a small amount of surface enamel to allow the veneer to blend seamlessly into the natural smile line. Once the tooth is prepared, we collect dental impressions that are used by a trusted lab to craft a custom veneer. In the meantime, we’ll place a temporary restoration to protect prepared teeth. Once the custom restoration is returned to our team, patients exchange their temporary for the high quality final restoration.
Lumineers are similar to traditional veneers in many ways except, in most cases, these ultra-thin porcelain sheaths do not require the removal of any surface enamel prior to placement. That means that the treatment is typically reversible. Additionally, this option is essentially non-invasive as it typically requires no numbing and there’s no need for the placement and removal of temporary restorations.
No solution is right for every patient, and we’re happy to help you determine whether traditional veneers or Lumineers are the right option for your smile during a cosmetic dentistry consultation.
